For the Module 2 SLP, you will be continuing to focus on the organization you selected for your Module 1 SLP and take a close look at strategic planning at this organization. You already gave a brief overview of planning at your organization for your Module 1 SLP, but now you will be taking a closer look at planning issues such as the mission, vision, and goals of your organization and also do some strategic planning and analysis of your organization.

For this assignment, first review the background materials carefully, then write a 3-page paper covering the following issues:
1.What are the main strategic goals of your organization?
2.Perform a strategic analysis of your organization using SWOT or PEST analysis, and make some recommendations for your organization based on your analysis.

For a couple of years, NGO has emerged as one of the most prominent organization that takes most of the community or charity work. This is because, they have maintained an outstanding way of planning their mission and vision and thus, they are able to achieve their goals. Strategic planning is taken with a great concern in all NGO’s as it aids them to reach their goals and objectives.  Setting out goals is one of the significant roles that every organization should be aware of. This is because; it helps them to formulate some of the ways in which they can achieve the entire goals. In this case, we will be analyzing the strategic goals that are associated with Non-governmental organizations (NGO). Additionally, the essay will also describe the strategic analysis of the entire organization using SWOT analysis. Finally, it will consist of some recommendations of how NGO can improve some of their weaknesses that they tend to have.

  1. Strategic goals of your organization?

As stated above, it is crucial for every organization to have some selected goals that they will be striving to achieve. This can be defined as strategic goals as it entails all the planned objectives that a certain organization is striving to attain (Vedder, 2007).  Most of the managers take their time to formulate various goals that are attainable. Additionally, they then discuss the entire goals with other organizational members in order to see whether the goals are attainable or not. This helps them to formulate diverse procedures that will assist them to reach their objectives (Welch, 2001). In this case, NGO being the selected organization, there are certain strategic goals that they have set aside (Vedder, 2007). They normally try their best in order to attain them.  For instance, being a charitable organization, they aim at helping every community to have a better life by empowering various community organizations that are established to help vulnerable members in the community.

In relation to this, they make sure that they have improved their effectiveness in order to continue with their support to the community.  Another major strategic goal of NGO is to develop and empower various firms that are developed in the community with an aim of helping citizens to live a better life (Vedder, 2007). With this regard, it can be seen that most of the strategic goals that are set aside in most of Non-governmental organizations aims at helping community to have all the resources that they may require to live a better life (Brinkerhoff, Smith & Teegen, 2007). Additionally, they all aims at improving their planning in order to make sure that the organization are still growing as they desire.

  1. SWOT analysis of NGO

It is relevant to perform a strategic analysis for every organization as it helps members to understand some of the ways in which they can improve their entire firm. In this case, we will use SWOT analysis in order to understand the strategic position of all NGOs.


For a decade, people have built high demand for some of the services that are offered by NGO. Additionally, NGO has become one of the main donors that help many community based firms realize their hidden potential (Vedder, 2007).  This is portrayed by various ways in which they have empowered these organizations.


NGO is known to lack serious developed board and this has become a major hindrance to their goals.  They are also known to be deficient in community awareness and thus, they have low competitive advantage (Brinkerhoff, Smith & Teegen, 2007).


NGO have various opportunities of developing good relationships with other business organization (Welch, 2001). This will help them to get some ideas that they can invent in their organizations. The fact that there is high demand of their services, they can be soon emerging as one of the prominent organization that helps communities to live a stable life.


Most of small NGOs normally face a problem of having shortage of funds (Vedder, 2007). This can hinder their missions and can also lead them to dissolve.  Additionally, they also tend to face competition from developed firms.

  1. Make some recommendations for your organization based on your analysis.

The fact that all NGOs are said to have various threats, it is essential to formulate some recommendations that will help them to empower their progress (Welch, 2001). According to their strategic analysis, the organizations are more prone to limited funds and thus, it is crucial for them to find ways in which they can raise their financial status in order to prevent the dissolving of the entire organization (Brinkerhoff, Smith & Teegen, 2007). In relation to this, NGOs are said to face huge competition from other community based firms and thus, it is vital for them to look for ways in which they can improve their competitive advantage (Vedder, 2007). For instance, increasing their help to the community will make the entire firm to be more prominent and thus, they will increase their competitive advantage.  The fact that most of the NGOs lack developed board, it is vital for them to select trustful managers that will ensure everything is going in order. This will also help them to reach their goals.


To sum up, it is clear to assert that NGO has built an outstanding strategic position that helps it to reach their goals. Additionally, they have formulated various goals that are easily attainable and thus, they can reach their mission.  However, it is crucial for them to develop trustful managers as they are more prone to lack of developed board and this can lead to dissolving of the entire organization.
